We sometimes take the places we live for granted and we don’t bother to really see places like you would if you were visiting as a tourist. The restrictions we have had in place the last year have forced us to see what there is to do closer to home, and we have been having a nosey around a lot of things to do outside and have put together a list of scavenger hunts, treasure hunts (some even end up in the pub!) and city hunts.
We suggest you check before booking which tier you have to be in to play and hopefully as we go down the tiers in the future we can choose to play more.
Locked City
Over at Locked City you will find a range of awesome immersive treasure hunts that will see you solving cryptic clues and uncovering secrets all with the help of your phone.
Choose from ‘The Curse of Covent Garden’, ‘A Journey Through Time’ and ‘Camden Unlocked’.
Hidden City
You can choose from 3 great games that are played in London from Hidden City from ‘The Hunt for the Cheshire Cat’, ‘Moriarty’s Game: The Professors Invitation’ and ‘The Enchanted Mirror’. They also offer a game to play at home.
City Discovery Game: London’s Camden & Primrose Hill Views
Another scavenger hunt with clues sent to your phone, but this time it is centered around Camden and Primrose Hill. Take in the stunning views that we may otherwise have taken for granted as we went about our usual lives pre-Covid.

The London Outdoor Treasure Hunt for Two
This fun treasure hunt takes 2 and a half hours and you can choose your area from Soho/Leicester Square, Baker Street/Marylebone, Covent Garden/Charing Cross, Tower Hill/Fenchurch Street, London Bridge, Victoria, Waterloo, Kings Cross/St. Pancreas, Euston and Liverpool Street.
There are games available for solo players, 2 players and groups of 4.
The Great Game
This is one to do when we are back in tier 1 or 2. You play a cool treasure hunt where the ‘treasure’ is a pub at the end, once you get there you will receive discount on food and drinks. There is another option that is a pub crawl type hunt and you will hit 3 or 4 great pubs, all offering you discount along the way – sounds like our type of game!
London Walking Tours – Quiz Trails
At London Walking Tours you will find they offer way more than just walking tours, there are Quiz Trails which they claim are suitable for Londoners as well as out-of-towners, take this time to learn more about your city when there really isn’t much else to do!
Battle of Wizards London Private Tour & City Exploration Game
Who doesn’t love Harry Potter right? Take some time to explore some locations you are sure to recognize from the Harry Potter film series and learn some behind-the-scenes information and facts on the app on the way.

Let’s Roam
Let’s Roam offers a choice of anytime scavenger hunts from ‘London Scavenger Hunt: The Magnificent City of London’ as well as ‘London Date Night Scavenger Hunt’, ‘London Bachelorette Scavenger Hunt’ and ‘London Birthday Scavenger Hunt’.
The Secret City
Again this site offers a choice of trails between ‘Secrets of the Squares’ and ‘The City’ both are immersive treasure hunts. You will follow a set of clues which include directions and questions you need to answer, you will need to make sure you see certain sights to know you are going in the right direction. Both games take from 2 and a half hours to 3 and a half hours with 14 or 15 clues involved.
London’s West End Murder Mystery Trail
Forget boring clues and turn detective with this play along murder mystery trail. You can start instantly with printable instructions or using your smart phone. Head around London while trying to solve a murder along the way, the trail takes around 3 and a half hours to complete.
Bucket Race
Another one for when the tier system and lockdowns are all over, Bucket Race is a race to do a series of fun and also hilarious tasks while competing against other teams. There are many locations available in London and you can book now for later in the year.
The Stolen Ring
This game offers another chance to play detective, this time solving the mystery of a stolen ring. This outdoor game takes place in Mayfair and you have an hour, the record is 32 minutes – can you beat it?
Some of these are claiming to still be available within tier 4 areas, however, we would recommend you check before booking anything and also take note of covid and refund policies they have in place.
